2.1.2 Statute/ legislation: primary and delegated legislation
Statute is law made either by the Parliament (consisting of two houses: the House of Commons and the House of Lords) (called “primary legislation”, in the form of Acts, for example Companies Act 2006) or in exercise of law-making powers that are delegated by Parliament (called “secondary legislation” or “delegated legislation”).
