Definition
A financial market brings a firm into direct contact with its investors. The trend to borrowing directly from investors is sometimes called disintermediation.
Financial markets can be classified in several ways. We will look at the main classifications below in turn.
Capital and money markets
Primary and secondary markets
Exchange-traded and over the counter markets
Capital markets and money markets
Capital markets are markets for medium-term and long-term capital.
Money markets are markets for short-term capital.
